The ZF Conference The biggest players in the economy has brought to the table of discussions some of the largest companies in the market, which together gather exports of hundreds of millions of euros and which also have presence outside the country.
♦ Romanian companies must take the step towards internationalization if they want to grow and defend their position including in their origin markets ♦ Presence in several countries helps a company not depend on a single market. The speed in making decisions, the courage, but also the adaptation to the «culture» of products from other countries are elements that help local companies to make new markets from abroad, is one of the conclusions of the speakers presented yesterday at the conference «The biggest players in the economy. From the premises to the international: how do we encourage the export and the investments in the Romanian Partnership with Vodafone, profile factory, bat, lactalis, Grapet Group, Kinstellar, Therapy, Rivaz Hotel, Bridge to Information, JW Marriott and Julius Meinl. «What we do differently is that we are more fast and brave in decisions, we tend to give much more empowerment to local managers and this creates an advantage,» said Alexandru Stânean, CEO of Teraplast, the company that provides 40% of business from abroad. It has been developed on foreign markets since 2017, through the acquisition of factories, and now has a presence in Serbia, the Republic of Moldova, Hungary, Croatia. Another player who has managed to enter with the products in over 40 countries is the producer Nimet Târgovişte, which exports between 90% and 92% of production to over 40 countries. The business started in 2008 from scratch, like a Greenfield, and last year it reached 108 million euros in turnover. «What are we good at? We are good for sale, we are fast, we offer solutions. We give product mixes. For example, why would someone from the United States buy a rod from Târgovişte? Because he receives correct price, good quality and a real solution to his problem,» said Samy Numan, CEO of the producer of steel pipes.

He said that the company has made a place on these markets because it has built a very good team of technical skills in Târgovişte, but also sales, employees who participated in all international fairs, from China to India, Canada or the USA. «We tried to be very fast and adapt to the culture of metal in each country. As there is a culture of coffee or medicine, there is a metal culture.» Romania exported last year goods in a total value of 92 billion euros, in slight decrease compared to the previous year, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics, and remains on commercial deficit. In order to increase exports and to become a strong country in this regard, we can «import» what others do, stressed Irina Pinta, CEO of eMAG. The players who enter from the outside have the support of their governments, not just enter their own money, and if Romania wants to enter this game they have to put more on the table, according to them. «We have an investment plan greater than in 2024. There are 1.2 billion lei (240 million euros) that we put on the table for investments that go in infrastructure (most), but it also goes in what is unique in our business model, that is, creating Romanian technology, of value added through the people in Romania, which we export to the region.»
