The Romanian Electrical Network Company, part of the PPC group in Romania, has launched on the SEAP Public Procurement Platform a public auction with a maximum value of almost 32 million lei (excluding VAT), for the purchase of high voltage and accessories, necessary for the project modernization projects. «Investments in the network infrastructure represent a strategic direction for us,» says Mihai Pisa, general director of Romania Electrical networks. According to DateLR to the company, the minimum amount of high voltage cable to be purchased is 37,000 linear meters – the equivalent of about 370 football fields placed in the head, while the maximum quantity, of 60,100 linear meters, corresponds to that between Bucharest and Ploieşti. The initiative is part of the investment strategy in the energy infrastructure, through which the company aims to reduce the technological losses, to improve the quality of services and to expand the energy distribution capacity, especially in the Bucharest-Ilfov metropolitan area, amid the increasing integration of renewable sources into the network. This year, Romania electrical networks have investments of over 730 million lei. At the same time, projects financed through the POIM programs and the Modernization Fund in the three operating areas – Banat, Dobrogea and Muntenia – with an estimated completion term for 2026-2029 will be launched. The total value of these projects amounts to about 1.4 billion lei, of which about 340 million will be covered from own funds. By the end of 2025, the company estimates that it will install about 2 million smart meters, the largest number implemented by an electricity distribution operator in Romania. The Company of Electric Network Romania operates networks with a total length of about 134,000 kilometers in Muntenia (including Bucharest), Banat and Dobrogea, covering one third of the local distribution market. The electrical networks operated by the Romanian electrical networks count 289 transformation stations and over 25,000 transformation positions.
