You have ever happened to ask yourself «What I need theory if I can learn directly from practice?» Or vice versa – «What is the purpose of practice, if I already have all the theoretical concepts learned?» Well, the truth is somewhere in the middle, and you have to find a variant that combines both if you want to be a good professional. «If you do not know theory, you risk parking, and if you do not practice, you risk forgetting theory. The bridge must be between the two -theory and practice -and learning must be a continuous process. Dana Corcheş, Head of Executive Development within the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Management (FSEGA) of Babeş-Bolyai University (UBB) in Cluj. She joined the university environment after a career of over two decades in Banking. Today, it is the coordinator the department of executive education From Fsega – a place where «big people», business leaders, come to learn from each other. This department is, in fact, a place where theory meets the reality of the land. «It is a school for big people, where people in business can come with teachers can find ideas to change local communities and country. I really want to create a culture that learning is a continuous process. We have mixed programs developed in partnership with universities in the US,» she said. Within this department of UBB, international programs are carried out – one with the University of North Carolina, the other with Colombia Business School and follows a new one in the financial area. The purpose? To create a regional leaders' hub to learn, grow and transform Romania. The programs are in the fourth edition, she says, the cohorts are mixed and consist of 15-20 participants to maintain the quality of the networking. So far, there are already over 80 participants in these programs. About young people like you, those in the Z generation, Dana Corcheş says they are different from those in previous generations – they have the courage to say what they feel and express their emotions, which is a great plus of your generation both personal and professional. The Romanian entrepreneurial companies, she says, need structure and values and want to identify the human resource that best suits their activity. «We teach students to think about their values, to develop daily behaviors and actions in accordance with their values. I am convinced that these generations, which they see more and more pragmatic, oriented to look for models and to make their voice heard, will be the best employees of companies,» she said. The truth is that learning never stops. You can be as smart, but without curiosity and the desire to grow constantly, you will come to the conclusion that the world is moving faster than you. Whether you learn from a teacher, a mentor or a colleague, every experience builds you. So, whether you dream of a career in business, tech or design, do not stop learning. You have the courage to say what you feel, ask, explore and make mistakes.
