In football, emotion and drama sell best, says Justin Ştefan, the general secretary of the Professional Football League. It shows that the Premier League, the UK's League 1, is the ideal example in this case. The British manage to stage the drama and emotion of the match. «The Premier League is the championship that makes the best use of emotion, drama and time. It is a league that has managed to transform football into a complete product. Match day, fan experience, ticket sales, food, drink, all contribute to the club's income.» However, in Romania football clubs do not see the matches as a show and do not manage to generate income from it. Justin Ştefan also says that the future growth opportunity of the clubs comes from this sale of emotion to the fans, which the Romanian clubs do not yet know how to do. «Look, you have a game Rapid – FCSB, and let's say Rapid wins. There are 40,000 people. It's clear that the sales team, after that performance and after that positive emotion, has to do exactly that: sell! The opportunity comes from better capitalization of commercial rights.»
NV launched the show Business and marketing in football, produced in partnership with Salt Bank, a show where people from the industry will give their opinion on the evolution of Romanian football and answer the question: Is football a business or not?
«We come from a statist system, in which sport was supported by the state, without market logic. That model no longer corresponds to reality. Today we have a hybrid model, in which clubs financed by public money coexist and clubs that are real economic entities, with private shareholders and business logic. For football to become a real business, we must continue the transition to private financing. I'm not saying that we don't there must be public money, but this money must always go to infrastructure, not to salaries or current expenses».
The first guest of the show Business and marketing in football was Dan Şucu, the founder of Mobexpert and investor in the football clubs Rapid Bucharest and Genoa from Italy.
