Nuclearelectrica, stock symbol SNN, announced on Friday evening, in a post on Facebook, that the Doicesti Small Modular Reactors (SMR) project is moving towards the Final Investment Decision. The request to complete the agenda of the General Meeting of Shareholders, set for February 12, 2026, of the majority shareholder of SNN, the Ministry of Energy, subject to the approval by SNN shareholders of the Final Investment Decision (FID) within the Small Modular Reactors (SMR) project. «The SMR project from Doiceşti, NuScale technology, will have an installed capacity of 462 MW, consisting of 6 modules, each with an installed capacity of 77 MW. In an international context where SMR technologies are considered the solution to ensure flexibility and complementarity with renewable resources, an effective alternative for advantageous reindustrialization of decommissioned power plants, an engine for local and regional development by creating a complex supply chain, an opportunity of growing a new generation of specialists, Romania has the ability to become a know-how center in the implementation of advanced technologies. Together, Romania's energy security and the availability of its clean energy sources are and will remain priorities,» said Cosmin Ghiţă, Nuclearelectrica general manager. SNN shares have risen by 24% since the beginning of the year, to a capitalization of 20.5 billion lei. The main shareholder, with a holding of 82.5%, is the Romanian state, through the Ministry of Energy.
