♦ Romania still has the potential to return to economic growth of 3-5% per year, but for this several conditions must be met: fiscal stability, so that the profitability of a multi-year investment is not affected, the predictability of the fiscal field, especially in the context of a competition with the surrounding countries. The perspective of returning to a more sustained economic growth, of 3-5%, for Romania exists, but things must move much faster in the administrative, bureaucratic field, to have fiscal and legislative stability, which at this moment does not encourage investments and implicitly economic growth. This is the conclusion of the businessmen and specialists in the fiscal and legislative field who participated in the conference ZF&NNDKP Dialogues about Romania: developments and perspectives, organized yesterday in Bucharest. «In the area of perceptions at the social level, there is an anxiety generated by the measures imposed last year to balance the budget deficit. When society is under pressure due to the increase in taxes, consumption contracts. Consumption is much more present as a weight in the economy and any decrease is visible. The multiplier effect from investments requires a period of several years. To compensate for the decrease in consumption, we would need a double-digit increase in investments, which is difficult to achieve, but we hope it will happen», said Alina Timofti, partner of NNDKP. She was present at the event organized by NV in partnership with the law firm NNDKP (Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen). An economic growth of less than 3% comes with the challenge of a budget deficit that does not fall within the limits established with the European institutions, believes Marius Ionescu, partner, NNDKP. He urges discipline in all areas, both from the administrative area and from the business side, in order to gain the trust of investors. «We are in a sensitive moment where pragmatism, care, discipline are needed. We can no longer go randomly, make mistakes, postpone things. We must choose strategic directions for development», said Marius Ionescu. Even if the consumption decreased, the situation is not dramatic in the opinion of Marius Persenea, Chief Operating Officer, Iulius, real estate developer, one of the most active investors in the market. Moreover, in the next decade, Iulius has a budget of 2 billion euros for investments in ongoing projects, but also in some new ones. «The year 2026 is a year of stagnation, it is normal, nothing grows indefinitely. I think there are few industries in Romania that have not had constant growth from year to year in the last 5-10 years. The important thing is to move forward with our projects, to generate new ones, to replace the word «potential» with «project». Let's discuss a project on the table, not of potential, which is extremely volatile, difficult to quantify and without effects», said Marius Persenea.
