The Romanian government decided on Friday to increase the salaries of Romgaz employees by 6.5%, the executive explaining that the company is making major investments and it is necessary to keep its workforce. «In 2026, the company is carrying out the largest investment program in the history of the company, of approximately 5.6 billion lei. Among the projects carried out by SNGN Romgaz SA, we mention Neptun Deep, the completion of the Iernut power plant and the agreement in principle with Azomureş regarding the takeover of the operational activity of the chemical fertilizer producer», the Government says in a statement. The increase will be applied from June 1, 2026, and the total cost amounts to 40.66 million lei. In the memorandum, it is mentioned that the salary level within the company, in recent years, was below the industry average. «In the last five years (2021-2025), salary earnings at the Romgaz level were consistently below the average gross earnings at the branch level.» Romgaz is listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (symbol: SNG) and has a market capitalization of 54.3 billion lei, and since the beginning of the year the company’s shares have increased by 41.14%. The Romanian state, through the Ministry of Energy, is the main shareholder, with a 70% share.
