Cristian Vasile, ZF reader: We need to start the construction of at least 3 new ports over the Danube as soon as possible, to raise the whole area. The construction of bridges is not only an exercise in image or cutting ribbons, but of opening new commercial routes and new markets for entrepreneurs

On a portion of 470 km as it measures the river border between Romania and Bulgaria there are only 2 bridges in operation. The first discussions between the Principalities of Romania and Bulgaria related to the possibility of constructing the bridge over the Danube began in 1881. The oldest and the first bridge built with Soviet aid makes Ruse and Giurgiu. It was inaugurated on June 20, 1954, after the construction work began in 1952. The second bridge over the Danube is the one that connects Calafat and Vidin. The two countries signed the agreement for the construction of the Calafat-Vidin bridge in 2000. The inauguration of this bridge took place 13 years later, on June 14, 2013. There is an agreement between Romania and Bulgaria that the third bridge will be erected in the Giurgiu Ruse area, but the inauguration of the bridge no. 3 will take place somewhere in 2035 or even later. Until then we cross the Danube on the bridge of friendship (Most na Drujbata lb. Bg.) Super crowded and 71 years old. We need to start the construction of at least 3 new bridges over the Danube as quickly as possible, apart from the third bridge already approved with the Bulgarian side, between Giurgiu and Ruse. Financing from European funds can be provided and negotiated with the Bulgarian part costs. I searched the largest cities in Bulgaria after the number of inhabitants and then I identified the ones closest to the border with Romania Versus Sofia. We would have this: Lom, Ruse, Plevna, Veliko Tarnovo, Razgrad, Dobrici, Gheneral Toşevo, Şumen, Varna. I looked at the map and could be built at least 3 more new bridges (marked with a green disk on the map) as follows: one in the Turnu Măgurele-Nikopol (Bulgaria) area, the second between Bechet-Oyahovo (Bulgaria) and the last would be linked to Calarasi de Silistra (Bulgaria). The construction of bridges is not only an image exercise, to cut ribbons or an opportunity for useless expenses, they would add new commercial routes between the two countries, it would stimulate the growth of trade. Romanian entrepreneurs could open companies in the geographical areas of North-West Bulgaria, North, respectively North-East. Once resolved the passage of the Danube river, Bulgarian citizens could do their shopping in Romanian stores, order online more often from local retailers or find work in our country, especially since both countries are part of the Schengen area, and we import tens of thousands of South-East workers. And if we talk about new bridges, although I am not an expert in bridges, I do not understand why the plans from the Calafat-Vidin Bridge cannot be taken and modifies for the new requirements, adjust for the Danube width and the new bridges at two high-speed railway. It would cost less and would end these infrastructure works much faster, especially after the experience with the asphalting of the bridge in Brăila. A high -speed railway to connect Bucharest to Sofia could have the following route: Bucharest – Alexandria – Turnu Măgurele – Nikopol – Plevna – Sofia. One of the components of economic relaunch would be given by massive investments in the modernization of railways, at correct prices. During the reign of King Carol I, they were built 1OO of kilometers of railway per year, year by year. In 40 years 4,000 km of railway, with the technical means of that time, have been erected. The Cernavoda bridge with pillars buried 35 meters below the water level designed without computers by the engineer Anghel Saligny, was built in 5 years. We should be high-speed railways to connect us to: Budapest, Lviv/Lviv, Chisinau, Belgrade and Istanbul. Spain has the longest high -speed rail network in Europe, about 4,000 km, the second in the world after China. In the country, we would need the following high speed lines: a) Oradea – Cluj – Iasi – Chisinau.
In the Republic of Moldova, the gauge of the railway (distance between itself) is the Soviet one, 1,520 mm, not the standard in Romania and Europe of 1,435mm. I think Romania has the financial ability to build a railway to European standards, which will connect Iasi de Chisinau. b) Cluj – Brasov – Bucharest. c) Bucharest – Alexandria – Turnu Măgurele – then to Sofia through Bulgaria d) Bucharest – Iasi. e) Timişoara – Arad – Oradea – then to Budapest in Hungary f) Bucharest – Giurgiu – Ruse – then to Istanbul in Turkey, through Bulgaria. g) Timişoara-Belgrade in the proposal for interconnection through high-speed railway lines (300-400 km/h), called the Starline network, proposed by a Think-Tank in Copenhagen, which would link both the capitals of the states and the main cities of the European Union, the United Kingdom and Turkey, Bucharest, Bucharest and Chisinau It would be an influential knot in the region with 4 neighbors: Belgrade, Athens, Istanbul and Bucharest. The thinking school behind this initiative addresses each city, from a logical point of view, as a subway station, and the whole network would represent at the continent level a coherent system, a huge surface subway. The start of the works in the high -speed railways would be an important component of the national economic relaunch package. The EU even encourages the development of railway transport, so European funds will exist in abundance. The construction of the minimum 3 bridges would work on many Romanians with expertise in the construction area, in the project management area, they would receive orders cement factories, those that produce beams and tanks specific to bridges, would be involved consultants. Also, as a message for partners in the European Union, it would show that there is long -term vision and we can perform difficult projects with major impact in the economy.
