Note that the hydro production is small: 1146MW. Why? Because we had a very dry 2024 and we don't have enough flows in the hydropower plants on the rivers. We have a very good degree of filling in the reservoirs for this period: 57.4%», the minister wrote on Saturday evening, adding that these are energy reserves for the coming months, «until the rains start and the snow melts» Burduja reminded that our country also has energy from batteries – 10MW: «Relatively little, for now, but the projects are in the works, mostly with financing provided by the Ministry of Energy from non-reimbursable funds, will take us to 1000MW by 2027», adding that wind energy production will be higher in the coming years, «because we have attracted record funding from the PNRR and the Modernization Fund for new wind farms:
1. PNRR – 300MW (contracts signed), and 30MW have already been commissioned in 2024, at Romcim, at Medgidia;
2. FM – production and self-consumption – almost 1000MW (closed call, projects under evaluation);
3. Contracts for the difference: 1100MW (contracts signed)». «Everything is for Romania to have wind in its sails, today and in the future, literally and figuratively», he added, adding that it is important «to keep on the right path of democracy, development and truth». The minister stated that «only in this way will we achieve energy independence, which some are only talking about, while they ask us to import Russian gas. We do the right thing for Romania at the Ministry of Energy. But the future depends on each Romanian: what will we choose?». Finally, Sebastian Burduja said that these things are important because: «- we care about the water reserve for the next two months (I explained above); – it is probably cheaper than producing more on coal; – Romania lost 7000MW of production capacities in the band between 2009-2022, which brings us quite often to the situation of resorting to imports, but this will change from 2026, when I estimate that we will still have at least 1500-2000MW in the strip (Iernut, Mintia, Năvodari, Răstoliţa, several new CETs, etc.), so we will be net exporters most of the time».
