Brothers Dan and Marius Ştefan, the founders of the autonomous group, the most important independent player on the operational and Rent-A-Car leasing markets, have taken a minority package within the Lena Optics retailer, ZF data shows. According to the market sources, the two entrepreneurs took actions from the founders of Lensa-Daniel Crăciun and Florin-Adrian Niţ. Specifically, they have transformed a series of debts into actions. Lena, one of the largest players in the optics market, did not submit its results on 2024, but in the previous year it had total debts of 115 million lei for business of almost 200 million lei (plus 49%).
Both the business and the debts increased rapidly due to the fact that the company bet on an accelerated expansion. For example, in 2023, the year for which the financial data are valid, the company inaugurated 47 stores. Of the total, 42 were in Romania, four in Chisinau, in the Republic of Moldova, and one in Sofia, in Bulgaria. It was the first year in which Lena took steps outside the country.
About 2024 there are no figures on expansion, but the company officials said that after such a fast expansion last year, for the lane came the time of a more prudent expansion and consolidation. Lena is a business that appeared on the market in 2013, equally controlled by two local entrepreneurs – Daniel Crăciun and Florin Adrian Niţă. The company started on the road online, but then developed offline and has over 80 stores today, according to the latest ZF data. The Stefan brothers have taken over the titles through an investment vehicle – ATM Ventures, through which they are shareholders of over 20 companies in various fields.
