Energy, large infrastructure projects, the food industry, agriculture and the defense industry are growth engines for the department he coordinates, says Raluca Ţintoiu, Deputy CEO & Head of Wholesale Banking, ING Romania. She tells what are the priorities on her agenda, what are the main categories of clients targeted by the Wholesale Banking division, how the activity of bankers is changing in a time when technology is developing more and more rapidly and the long-term prospects of this job. «I am motivated by the things we can do this year, because we are analyzing a series of very interesting projects, with many novelties. There is a change of pace and a maturing of the business environment in all of Romania. We see projects at ING in the energy area, large infrastructure projects, in the food and agriculture fields», says Raluca Ţintoiu, Deputy CEO & Head of Wholesale Banking, ING Romania. With over two decades of international experience in banking, investment, capital markets and insurance and with expertise in areas such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), structured finance and investments, she took up her current role a year ago. «It was an interesting year for all of Romania, and the financial markets witnessed a certain level of volatility during the year. However, it was also a good year, in the sense that we saw a series of very nice projects and opened new directions for ING», says the representative of the bank. «We are present in the area of renewable energy and we see a lot of dynamics. The dynamics are not as intense in the case of pro-cyclical industries – consumption, retail, import, distribution, automotive. We do not necessarily see a decrease, but rather a less accelerated growth or perhaps more tempered ambitions. Which is normal in a period of fiscal consolidation, when everyone expects at least a limitation in the growth of consumption.» Last year, ING Romania financed the preliminary development stage of two strategic energy projects: the rehabilitation of Unit 1 at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant for the National Society Nuclearelectrica SA and the development of Units 3 and 4, through the project company Energonuclear SA (fully owned by Nuclearelectrica). ING Bank participated as Lead Arranger with a ticket of 75 million euros within the syndicated facilities totaling 620 million euros. Also last year, the bank also participated in the syndicated facilities for Grupul Electrica, with a contribution of 66 million euros out of a total of 620 million euros.
