The company Agrotranscom-Ex was founded in 1992, but only in the 2000s it started to produce dairy products, and since then the producer has gradually developed reaching with the Gabriella dairy brand in store chains such as Metro or Selgros «We are trying to survive on the market, which is very difficult. At the moment we do not have outside support, like the multinationals have, and it is very difficult. And during the pandemic it went better than in the summer Romanian cheeses have potential only that we need support from the networks, traders, to help those who face the logistical requirements, they can deliver the requested quantities on time», said Majlath Karoly, sales representative within Agrotranscom-Ex, the producer of Gabriella dairy products. He was present at the ZF Agropower show, a project supported by Banca Transilvania and Penny. The company has a turnover of over 2 million euros and 35 employees. The manufacturer delivers nationally to Selgros and Metro, but also to small stores. «We never accessed funds, we did everything «out of pocket», only from our own income, loans from banks. We have a line of credit», stated Majlath Karoly. Recently, Agrotranscom-Ex participated in the World Cheese Awards competition in Bern (Switzerland) with a cheese smoked with natural smoke and won the bronze medal. At this competition, Horezu cheese, produced by the Five Continent company, matured cheeses from Caritas Rural Development, and the Bömbi brand from Andy Zoofarm also won medals.
«I sent the cheeses by courier, I wanted to go, but I didn't get to participate, I didn't go to the exhibition, but I got the bronze medal, I got the maximum score for the flavor because of the smoke, because it's natural smoke». For dairy production, Agrotranscom-Ex uses milk from its own farm and works with another 130 small producers. The company has in its portfolio several types of cheeses, as well as wholemeal, butter and cream. The company is owned by Csizmadia György, but development is handled by Gabriela's daughter and her husband Majlath Karoly. «We process 15,000 liters of milk a day, so we're not a big factory. It's a family business.»
