The BET index closed Wednesday’s session at 33,077 points, up 1.8% compared to the previous day, a new historical high for the local capital market. The advance was supported by almost all the companies in the index, most of them ending the day in the green, and trading volumes remained high: 90 million lei turnover on the regulated market. The most visible movement came from Hidroelectrica, where the shares appreciated by 3.01%, up to 198.8 lei, close to the psychological threshold of 200 lei per share. At this price, the company’s capitalization approaches 90 billion lei, which keeps it the most valuable company listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
You might also be interested: Romgaz also had a good day, with an increase of 3.06%, up to 15.48 lei per share. The yield for the last 12 months thus rose to over 121%, one of the largest annual advances in the market for a company the size of Romgaz. Banca Transilvania continued the series of highs from the last few weeks, with an increase of 2.32%, up to 39.7 lei. The TLV title remains the most liquid on the stock exchange, with a turnover of almost 39 million lei and over 2,300 transactions in a single session, and the return for one year has reached almost 49%. Romgaz rose by 3%, MedLife by 5.4%, Cris-Tim by 4% to 31.85 lei, a new record. Not all companies had an equally good day. Christian Tour, listed for just over a week under the symbol TRIP, fell by 4.52%, up to 1.585 lei per share, close to the historical minimum of 1.58 lei, reached in the same session. The title is thus traded below the reference price of 1.66 lei. Otherwise, most stock indexes rose, with BET-TR advancing 1.97% and BET-NG, which reflects the energy sector, 1.83%. Other notable gains of the day included Medlife, which rose 5.4%, and Conpet, which advanced 4.43%. Wednesday’s meeting thus confirms a pattern observed in recent months at the Bucharest Stock Exchange: sustained increases in large energy and financial companies, in a context where the local market continues to break records.
