Romania inaugurated this year 146 kilometers of highway and expressway, most of it being concentrated on the Moldavia Highway (A7), where traffic now runs continuously for approximately 250 kilometers between Bucharest and Adjud, according to the centralized data of 130km.ro. The high-speed road infrastructure projects totaled investments of 90 billion lei without VAT from September 2021 until now. The year 2025 ended with the opening of about 50 kilometers on the A7 between Focşani and Adjud, around Christmas. Out of the total of 319 km of the Moldavian Motorway, between Ploieşti and Paşcani, 195 km are now in operation. Among the sections inaugurated in 2025 are: lot 3 of the southern belt of Bucharest on the A0 (almost 18 km), section 5 of the A1 Sibiu-Pitesti between Curtea de Argeş and Pitesti (14.5 km), lots 2 and 3 on the A7 Ploiesti-Buzau (over 42 km together), as well as the first 5 km of the Turda-Dej expressway. 2026, the calendar foresees the opening of 255 new kilometers. The biggest contributions will come from the sections A7 Bacău-Pașcani (over 77 km on three sections), A3 Transilvania between Nădăşelu and Suplacu de Barcău (approximately 70 km on several sections) and A7 Focșani-Bacău (46 km). The National Road Infrastructure Administration Company (CNAIR) had 654 kilometers in operation at the beginning of the year with signed contracts, of which 508 km remain under construction. The National Road Investment Company (CNIR) signed design and construction contracts in 2025 for 189 kilometers, worth 22 billion lei, to which are added two other contracts for 78 km, valued at about 10 billion lei.
