István Máté-Tóth, Deputy CEO, Budapest Stock Exchange: The challenges of small exchanges in the region will only increase. It is important that markets effectively channel domestic savings to local investors. The number of equity issuers on the Budapest Stock Exchange has doubled in recent years, with a significant increase in the bond market as well, and a large part of this development is the investor attraction program and the ecosystem developed around them, according to István Máté-Tóth, Deputy CEO, Budapest Stock Exchange. The Budapest Stock Exchange has created an extensive mentoring program for small companies and medium-sized enterprises in Hungary, in order to strengthen their operations and prepare for a possible capital increase. The «BET Mentor» program has an educational component, through which free courses are offered to companies, a networking component, in which various meetings are organized and which also allows access to the markets, through marketing events, including the «Bet 50». «It is an ecosystem consisting of about 50 companies that we believe are ready to go public. We do not expect all 50 to go public at the same time, but we believe that they will represent a significant pool of new companies,» said István Máté-Tóth at the ZF Capital Markets 2026 conference.
