The Ministry of Finance borrowed 2.2 billion lei from the banks on Thursday, through two auctions with state bonds, at interest rates of 5.94% and 6.41% per year. In the first auction, the Ministry of Finance reopened a benchmark state bond issue due in April 2027 and borrowed 1.16 billion lei, at an annual interest rate of 5.94%. The amount awarded is 360 million lei above the value of the issue, of 800 million lei. 7 primary dealers participated in the auction, i.e. those who bought the bonds, sending bids both on their own account and on behalf of individual and legal clients. The total volume of the request approached 3 billion lei, of which the banks offered 2.84 billion lei in their name and on their own account. The non-competitive offers were 5 million lei. At the second auction, the Ministry of Finance reopened a benchmark state bond issue due in February 2032 and borrowed 1.07 billion lei from the banks, at an annual interest rate of 6.41%. 7 primary dealers participated in the auction, and the total volume of the request was 2.86 billion lei. Of the total amount awarded, the banks offered 972 million lei in their name and on their own account, and 101 million lei were non-competitive offers.
