Desmond Lim has learned as a child what hard work and perseverance mean. At the age of only seven, he discovered the passion for basketball, but his family could not afford to buy a ball. So he decided to solve the problem alone: he saved money for several months, giving up lunch, to buy his own basketball ball. This discipline and practical approach helped him in his later career. Today he is the Workstream CEO, a giant platform for human resources, which has managed to attract $ 120 million investments, writes CNBC. «I always had problems with the money. Dad was a driver, my mother was a service woman. I chose a sport that does not involve too big investments so I could enjoy it anytime, ”says Lim. Lim was born and grew up in Singapore and was the first of his family to attend a college. From the sale of eggs to the market to the freight, Lim says that most of his family members, including his parents, have been – and are still – workers with the hour. Lim was inspired by the hard work of the parents and the example of fairness they gave and applied these lessons in his personal life. In high school, not only was he a top student, but he also led the basketball team of his school, also winning a national competition. It didn't take long to be observed. It became clearly clear that he had unclear qualities to enter a top university, but his family has no money to keep in college. Receive on www.businessmagazin.ro
