Vodafone Romania, one of the largest IT&C companies on the local market, part of the British Vodafone group, ended 2025 with a turnover of 5.7 billion lei (1.13 billion euros), up 0.8% compared to 2024, and a net loss of 222.6 million lei (44.2 million euros), according to data published on the website of the Ministry of Public Finance. Business was close to stagnation at 5.7 billion lei in 2025, after constant growth in previous years: from almost 4 billion lei in 2019, the turnover gradually increased year by year, but the advance slowed down in 2025. The company remained at a loss for the sixth consecutive year. The net loss was reduced from 254.1 million lei in 2024 to 222.6 million lei in 2025, public data show. The last profitable year was 2019, when Vodafone Romania reported a net profit of 160.8 million lei; since 2020, the company has reported losses every year. The average number of employees dropped slightly, to 3,023 in 2025, from 3,078 in 2024. The year 2025 also brought an important movement on the market: Vodafone took over, together with Digi, the assets of Telekom Romania Mobile, in a transaction through which the local market consolidated from four to three large operators. Vodafone paid 30 million euros and took over the substantial part of the business – about 2 million customers with subscriptions and M2M cards, the entire network of almost 200 stores, most of the employees, over 80% of the more than 4,000 mobile phone locations and about half of the radio spectrum – while Digi paid 40 million euros for the rest of the assets. The company has announced investments of more than 150 million euros in the next two to three years for the integration and modernization of the network taken over, and the migration of customers will take place gradually over the course of two years, according to statements made over half a year ago for ZF by Nedim Baytorun, CEO of Vodafone Romania. Vodafone Romania, formerly Mobifon – the operator that launched the Connex network in Romania -, is part of the British Vodafone group and offers mobile and landline services. In 2019, the company took over the local operations of UPC, also entering the fixed and cable services market. The operations are led by Nedim Baytorun, who took over the position of general director in April 2025, after previously coordinating the company’s consumer segment; he replaced Achilleas Kanaris, appointed CEO of Vodafone Greece.
