Autodesk, the American software giant for design and production, has concluded a definitive agreement for the acquisition of the MaintainX start-up, co-founded and led by the entrepreneur of Romanian origin Chris Ţurlică. The transaction, made entirely in cash and valued at approximately 3.6 billion dollars, aims to strengthen Autodesk’s operational capabilities and expand the addressable market through a new business division. The announcement of the acquisition was made at the end of this week. Chris is a tech entrepreneur and angel investor, with experience in buy-side finance and SaaS financial innovation. Before co-founding MaintainX, he built, led and sold Voo, a consumer-facing startup. Previously, he was Entrepreneur in Residence at Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners. Chris holds a degree in Finance from McGill University and was the President of the McGill California Alumni. His entrepreneurial experience has been complemented by roles in the area of investments and technology. Chris was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners between 2019 and 2021, a mentor at 500 Startups and a member of the Forbes Technology Council. He is also an investor in Ditto, a company that develops peer-to-peer synchronization technology for applications that must work even in environments without a stable internet connection. Chris is a graduate of McGill University, where he was active both academically and in the entrepreneurial area. He was a teaching assistant for corporate finance, statistics and real estate finance, external vice-president of the McGill Entrepreneurs Society and, later, president of the McGill Alumni Club of Northern California.
