Horia Ciorcilă, the president of the Board of Directors, says that Banca Transilvania also has an organic growth with several percentage points, which will bring her the leadership position on the Romanian banking market and will allow her to support the economy, companies, retail and state, and by financing the deficit, as well as during the periods of growth. «In the long term we see the growth of the economy, but of course it will not be equal, there will be turbulence, and you will need adjustments … We look extremely attentive to all the risks, but we are very well prepared, because we have consistent capital reserves and we have the size on our side. Beyond the traditional areas where BT is in front, SMEs, retail, the bank wants to expand more on the area of large companies (over 50 million euros in turnover), the area of premium customers, where the revenues of the Romanians have increased and there is potential, the area of administration of assets, the area of the capital market, where he wants to keep his position, the area of the area, CEO, where from a niche broker, wants to become a universal broker. Last but not least, Banca Transilvania has an objective of growing in the diaspora, and by launching BT Pay Italy we have proposed to one of four Romanians living in Italy to banking through BT Pay, says Ciorcilă. He mentions that a very high quality of the bank is the very strong, loyal, experienced team. «We have a united top management team, which is a thing that I hold a lot.» The economy of Romania, which has grown significantly in recent years, reaching the most favorable position in history,, however, leads some deficits that are now due and must be addressed through pragmatic, punctual solutions, he added. «The deficits must be adjusted gradually, because any adjustment attempt can produce shocks in the economy, possibly and social reactions. Taxes must remain at a reasonable level, both in some areas they are already high, and because we have to be attractive to attract capital to the country, but also because we have a productivity gap. a large number of small or subcapitalized companies. » «Not all credit requests are bankable, not all companies that come to us for financing are in rules and regulations.» «We want to credit as many companies and individuals as possible, but because we use the capital and the money of the depositors we are as responsible and we are obliged to focus exclusively on banking customers.» Banca Transilvania obtained a profit of 3.5 billion lei, at the bank level, up 41% and 4.7 billion lei, up 58%, at a consolidated group level BT. The assets of the bank increased to 184 billion lei, plus 14%, and the assets at group level BT climbed to 207 billion, plus 22% compared to 2023. The bank has gross loans granted by 86 billion, and at a group level of 101 billion lei. The warehouses attracted from the customers were at the end of last year 150 billion lei at the bank level and 167 billion lei at group level BT.

► In 2024 the shares of the Transilvania Bank (TLV) appreciated by almost 30%, and if we take into account the dividends and free shares the investment yield exceeds 40%.

► For comparison, the Bet Bursier index climbed 8.8% last year and 16% with dividends.

► Since the beginning of 2025 the TLV shares were appreciated by 4.4% at 28.2 lei, the equivalent of a market assessment of 25.9 billion lei (5.2 billion euros).

After the purchase of OTP Bank, the fourth bank purchased in the last decade, Banca Transilvania has reached a market share of 23%, the target being to go to a market share of 30%, a comfortable dimension in the banking market. Fundamentally, for the BT group, 2024 was a good year, and beyond the financial results we managed to strengthen our leading position in banking, to strengthen the structure of the financial group, Ciorcilă said. «We are trying to support all the strategic sectors of Romania and we see very good results on the part of large companies, ie customers with over 50 million euros in turnover. For this year we consider two strategic directions on the side of companies, the unionizations, where the bank contributed by expertise to a large number of transactions, and Supply-Chain Finance, to the financing, which is to the financing, to the financing, SMEs. Ciorcilă mentions that in 2024 BT increased on the premium customer segment, where the bank reached 150,000, ie 4% of customers. «The wealth and prosperity of Romanians have increased in recent years, which is why the niche is much more consistent, we are talking about people who work in big companies, entrepreneurs, specialists, doctors or architects, for example, who have above average revenues.» Bucharest is the market with the highest growth potential, and BT has a special focus on this area. «We must continue the trend to get as close to the similar market share and the magnetism we have at national level.» The resources attracted from customers are greater than the credits granted, which provides the bank a good liquidity position, without exposure to other financial resources. «We direct the excess of liquidity to safe or safe investments, such as the state titles of Romania. The availability we have in foreign currency we can place in bonds or other instruments of companies in Romania or of banks abroad. The purchase of OTP Bank was a good placement for the resources and liquidity of the Transylvania Bank, Ciorcilă said. «The actual gain from this purchase was 683 million lei, and the movement brought us about 150,000 customers, a 9% increase in assets and 13-15% increased loan portfolio, but also a higher presence in Bucharest and in the center of the country. In a world that changes extremely accelerated due to the technological, digital revolution, how do traditional, classic banks do compared to market changes? «We have made and we will make significant investments in technology, but BT is a universal bank, for everyone, whether they prefer banking by phone, or they want to go to us, with a great digital component. This hybrid model fits best, given the very large number of customers we have, almost 5 million, and which facilitates the financial inclusion. Accessibility, and, on the other hand, reduces market risks, ”says the bun. We want to have the best applications, but also the best network of units in Romania, he added. «It is part of our BT vertical integration plan, in order to have full control over the relationship with customers, due to the fact that we have applications, many, ATMs, cash processing solutions.» Banca Transilvania reached a stock capitalization of 26 billion lei, ie over 5.2 billion euros. Compared to five years ago, the value of the bank was doubled. Last year, the bank's shares increased by 30%, and with free dividends and shares, the investment yield was almost 40%. This year, the shares increased by 4%. Ciorcilă says that 80% of the Transilvania Bank belongs to the Romanian capital. «The Romanian pension funds have about 26% of the Transylvania Bank, which means over 8 Romanians indirectly. Over 67,000 shareholders, investment funds all over the world, natural persons invest in the bank's actions. Funds of some investment banks from all over the world contact us or request an information on the BAN, Investment. Last week, the General Meeting of BT shareholders took place, which decided that 45% of the profit would be distributed to shareholders, and the remaining 55% to go to reserves and the capitalization of the bank. «By the nature of banking and given the strict regulatory part, we need a lot of capital to finance the growth of the economy and the population. Therefore, much of our profit is capitalized and thus allows the increased amounts and the growth of business.» Finally, Ciorcilă, who is the chairman of the Board of Directors for over 20 years and the most important individual shareholder, says that if Romania is going well, and the Transylvania Bank will work well.
