Visa has begun the implementation of a digital solution that supports the transition of companies to commerce assisted by artificial intelligence, expanding payment options for AI agents and facilitating the acceptance by merchants of transactions initiated by them. Intelligent Commerce Connect is used, in the pilot phase, by a number of Visa partners, such as Diddo, Highnote, Mesh, Payabli and Sumvin, and will be extended to other partners during this year. As consumers increasingly rely on AI agents to make purchases, companies—whether developing such agents, selling through them, or processing related transactions—need an easy way to enter this ecosystem. «Commerce is changing rapidly, and AI agents are starting to play an increasingly important role in how people shop and pay. This change can only be successful if people have the confidence to let technology act on their behalf. Payments are based on trust, security and freedom of choice. Intelligent Commerce Connect provides this foundation for AI-assisted commerce, allowing businesses to innovate without losing control or compromising safety,» said Mandy Lamb, Head of Value-Added Services for Europe, Visa. Through the app, AI agent platforms can connect to existing credential management infrastructure without depending on a single vendor, merchants can accept payments initiated via established industry protocols, including Trusted Agent Protocol, Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) and Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), and products, descriptions, specifications and prices can be directly accessed, allowing users to discover products, choose and to complete purchases without leaving the platform.
