1st national Bitcoin reserve in Europe. It would seem that the Central Bank of Czech Republic is passed over the mockery of Christine Lagarde (president of the European Central Bank)because she has well implemented her desire to hold Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrencies. This pilot projectcurrently modest, could be developed on a larger scale if it is successful.
The key points of this article:
The Czech National Bank has created a test investment portfolio for Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, defying ECB warnings. This million dollar test wallet was built by including Bitcoin, a US dollar stablecoin and a tokenized deposit.

When national banking sovereignty does without advice from the ECB
Czech central bankers have been thinking about building up a reserve of Bitcoin and crypto-assets since January 2025 at least, but Christine Lagardethe President of the European Central Bank (BCE), was quick to warn them at the time:
“I am confident that bitcoins will not be in the central bank reserves of members of the Governing Council. »
Christine Lagarde, President of the ECB (January 2025)
A statement that poorly aged. Even if, thanks to its national currency (the Czech crown), the CNB is not not subservient at the ECB. This Czech sovereign initiative, approved by the bank's board of directors on October 30, 2025, reflects a growing awareness of the importance of digital assets in the global financial landscape. The governor of the CNB, Ales Michlresponds in some way to the Brussels technocrat in her statement today:
“I had the idea of creating this test wallet in January 2025. The objective was to test Bitcoin, decentralized [par nature]from the point of view of the central bank, and to assess its potential role in the diversification of our reserves. (…) Subsequent internal discussions broadened the scope to include the future of payments and asset tokenization. As a result, stablecoins and tokenized deposits were included alongside Bitcoin. (…) »
Aleš Michl, governor of the Czech National Bank
Although modest, this investment of 1 million dollars in Bitcoin and crypto-assets could therefore paving the way for their wider adoption by traditional financial institutions in the Czech Republic and beyond. Except perhaps in France, or the only request from the Banque de France is to impose ever stricter surveillance on crypto players in the delegator to the supranational regulators of the European Union, to be sure to finish completely suffocating the sector.
