The IT sector remains at the top of the national salary ranking in 2025, with an average net level of 8,000 lei per month, according to data from Salario, the salary comparator developed by eJobs. Even though the pace of wage growth in IT was 11% compared to last year, other sectors recorded even higher percentage adjustments this year, in a context where labor shortages and high inflation put pressure on employers to adjust compensation scales. «We have, on the one hand, companies that have internal policies of annual wage increases at least with the level of inflation and that do not deviate from this line except in exceptional situations, and, on the other hand, employers in fields that continue to hire and who are faced with an acute lack of specialized candidates in the market, which means that they must remain competitive in terms of wages, not only in front of candidates, but also in terms of employees», says Bogdan Badea, CEO of eJobs, the main online recruitment platform in Romania. Among the sectors with the largest percentage increases is the farm, where salaries advanced by 15% in 2025, reaching an average net level of 5,200 lei. Consistent increases were also recorded in telecommunications (plus 11%, average salary of 6,000 lei), real estate (plus 11%, 5,000 lei) and audit & consulting (plus 10%, 5,500 lei). The energy and construction sectors reported, for their part, important wage increases of 8% and 10%, respectively, against the background of the acute shortage of engineers and qualified workers, two of the most sought-after categories of employees in recent years. Average net salaries thus reached 6,500 lei in energy and 5,000 lei in construction. «In these two particular cases, the increases were also influenced by the shortage of candidates, qualified workers and engineers being two of the most sought-after candidate segments in recent years. Even in an economic landscape like the one we are going through now, the struggle of employers to attract qualified workers such as electricians, plumbers, painters or engineers, regardless of the area of specialization, is fierce», explains Bogdan Badea. The increase in VAT and close to double-digit inflation have reduced purchasing power, causing many employees to look for better-paying jobs. For employers, wage increases also functioned as a retention tool. «Employers, especially those in sectors where the average salary levels are lower, such as production, retail or the food industry, will feel external pressure to raise the salary ceiling», details the CEO of eJobs. Instead, fields such as financial-accounting, banking, administrative-logistics or transport-distribution remained in the area of capped salaries, with averages starting from 4,500 lei and reaching up to 5,000 lei net. At the moment, 22,000 jobs are available on eJobs.ro. Another 6,000 jobs are open on iajob.ro, the job platform launched by eJobs and dedicated to candidates who want to get hired quickly, without going through the traditional steps of a recruitment process, such as creating a CV.
