Four Romanian counties recorded wage decreases in January 2026 compared to January 2025, respectively Giurgiu, Bacău, Hunedoara and Olt, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS) centralized by ZF. The biggest decrease is in Olt, where the average net salary is lower by approximately 5% compared to the previous year. It is also among the counties with the largest increases in the number of companies that suspended their activity in 2024, with an advance of about 31%, according to ONRC data.
