Dreame Technology, one of the fastest growing Chinese technology companies globally, plans to enter the Romanian market more aggressively this year, expanding its available portfolio beyond the robot vacuum cleaners for which it is recognized. The company is set to bring new product categories locally – from personal care devices to garden equipment and pool cleaning robots. In China, Dreame’s product portfolio is even wider, covering a very wide range – from household appliances, hair dryers to luxury smartphones and smart rings, as the company wants to offer a complete ecosystem for the smart home. «We have already started to build our presence in Romania through retail and e-commerce channels, together with local partners. We are now focusing on improving product availability, increasing brand awareness and bringing more innovative products to Romanian consumers. We will continue to expand through a wider portfolio, closer cooperation with retail players, local marketing and better after-sales support,» Dreame representatives told ZF. The company is just at the beginning of its journey in Romania, even if at the European level it is already a leader in its main segment of robot vacuum cleaners.
From an upright vacuum cleaner to the third place in the world
Dreame was founded in 2017 and launched the first product under its own name a year later, an upright vacuum cleaner. The company has a portfolio of over 6,000 registered and 2,700 approved patents and is present in over 120 countries, its products being used by over 21 million households, according to information provided by Dreame. At the end of 2017, the company entered Xiaomi’s production chain, as a supplier of smart cleaning appliances. The Dreame’s technical advantage came from a high-speed engine, developed internally, capable of reaching, according to company data, up to 150,000 revolutions per minute. According to the data of the market research firm IDC for 2025, Dreame is the third world manufacturer of robot vacuum cleaners, after Roborock and Ecovacs – a Chinese trio that, in just a few years, changed a market previously dominated by the Americans from iRobot and the British from Dyson. In Europe, Dreame is even better: it is in first place in this segment, also according to IDC, with shares exceeding 50-60% in some Nordic countries.
What you can see at the headquarters in China
In the showroom in the Dreame campus in the city of Suzhou (150 km away from Shanghai), where the Chinese company invited a group of journalists from Europe, we could see that its range goes far beyond the area of cleaning floors: washing machines and dishes, hoods, air conditioners, refrigerators, televisions, electric brushes and hairdressing machines with artificial intelligence, a smart ring and luxury gold-plated phones. The tour made for journalists also included a visit to the robot vacuum cleaner assembly factory. On the automated lines, robotic arms work alongside employees who assemble the electronic components of the devices, the unit having a production rate of around 660 devices per hour. At another campus, the company puts its upright vacuum cleaners through endurance tests—slamming them, tilting them 180 degrees, running them over thresholds thousands of times and spraying them with water, including with the help of automated machines that repeat the same motions endlessly. The strength of the boxes in which the products are shipped to the customer is also checked.
Diversification bet: beauty tech, garden and swimming pools
The company recently announced that it is also expanding its range of products in Romania, beyond the cleaning area, according to its diversification strategy. Some of the products are already at retailers: the A3 AWD Pro lawn mower robot, capable, according to the manufacturer, of maintaining surfaces of up to 3,500 square meters, the swimming pool cleaning robot or the AirStyle Pro styling machine. Others remain at the announcement stage for now: the Chrona photon care mask, for example, is to be introduced to the local market only later this year. The company also uses a double brand strategy: in addition to Dreame, positioned in the premium area, the group launched the MOVA brand, built on the same technology, but also with products in other categories such as garden equipment. It is, in equal measure, a bet and a risk: a company that has built its reputation on vacuum cleaners also enters categories where it does not yet have a history, such as personal care or garden equipment.
Eastern Europe, in the sights of the company
For Dreame, the region of which Romania is a part is declared as one of the growth directions. «Europe is currently one of our key strategic regions. We see a strong evolution in markets such as Poland and the Nordic countries, and Romania and the entire region of Central and Eastern Europe are becoming more and more important for us», said Dreame representatives. At the product level, the company continues to focus on the premium segment as the main growth engine, but does not give up on the affordable ranges, which bring new customers. «Premium models are an important growth engine for Dreame in Europe, because more and more consumers are looking for automated and complete cleaning solutions. At the same time, entry-level and mid-range products are equally important to reach new users», pointed out the company’s representatives.
What does it mean, concretely, for the Romanian market
On the local market, Dreame’s offer remains for now focused on the intelligent cleaning area, the category in which the brand has the best results. «In Romania, Dreame focuses mainly on smart cleaning products, including robot vacuum cleaners, wet & dry upright vacuum cleaners and cordless vacuum cleaners. Robot vacuum cleaners are one of the strongest categories.» The products are sold through the main retailers and partners in Romania, including eMAG, Altex, Flanco, evoMAG and PentruGazon.ro, with new categories to be gradually introduced during 2026. The range of vacuum cleaners covers a wide price range, reaching the premium area of over 6,500 lei. When asked about the market share and sales volumes in Romania, the company representatives did not provide figures. There’s no confirmed timeline for a storefront or a direct-to-consumer platform either – the company says it’s exploring that option, without an announced deadline.
