The wave of extreme heat already rewrote meteorological tables across the entire republic on Saturday. Most often it was 34 to 39 °C. In the areas of Polabí and lower Poohří, however, the mercury on the thermometer even exceeded forty. So far, the hottest place has become Doksany, which reports 40.8 °C. After verification, this will probably set a historical record for the Czech Republic. And already on Saturday. Temperatures will rise even higher on Sunday. At more than ninety percent of stations that are at least thirty years old, the record for today was broken or equaled on Saturday, and at more than seventy percent of them even the record for the whole of June fell. In addition, today exactly twenty stations experienced the absolute hottest day in their history. It will be even warmer on Sunday. 35 to 41 °C. The highest temperature ever will probably be even higher. Cooling will come slowly on Monday from the west. In the east, extreme temperatures will last through Monday and will cool down there only on Tuesday.
