Electrified cars are gradually gaining ground even on the used car market. According to them, on the TipCars portal, it has doubled in the last two years, while in the first quarter of this year electric cars and hybrids made up 6.84% of the offer, two years ago it was 3.4%. The supply of electric cars in particular is growing rapidly. This trend is also confirmed by data from the Automobile Importers Association, according to which electrified cars accounted for less than a tenth of imported used cars this year. According to the car with an alternative drive in the TipCars offer, it is growing in the long term. While in the first quarter of 2024 electric cars made up 1.3% of the offer and hybrids 2.1%, this year electric cars make up 3.22% and hybrids 3.62%. In absolute terms, this means that the number of electric cars sold increased from 1,485 to 3,732 cars and hybrids from 2,400 to 4,196 cars. Developments in the market in the last two years show that electrified cars on the used market are getting stronger and are gradually taking over the space that was mainly occupied by diesel. It is also one of the most dynamically growing segments of the secondary market, says Marek Kniea, editor of TipCars.
The trend is also confirmed by the statistics of the Association of Automobile Importers. While in the first quarter of 2024, electric cars and hybrids made up a total of 4.39% of imported used cars, this year their share increased to 10.31%. In the same period, electric cars themselves moved from 1.77% to 7.04% of all imported used cars. The growing import of used electric cars and hybrids will gradually be reflected in the offer on the secondary market.
Operating an electric car costs less than half the price
The current development of fuel and energy prices is also important for decision-making. The model's comparison of operating costs shows that driving an electric car can cost between 90 and 120 crowns per 100 kilometers. For a petrol car, it is about 205 and 290 crowns, for a diesel car it is about 180 and 315 crowns, and for a petrol hybrid it is about 160 and 200 crowns [1] . First, lower operating costs may be one of the reasons why there are more than two orders for electrified cars. Electrified cars are also moving into affordable price levels. The offer is gradually expanding to affordable price levels. In the first quarter of this year, TipCars offered 986 electric cars with a price of up to 500,000 crowns and 853 hybrids in the same price category. At the other end of the market, however, there are also impressive and exclusive models, which shows how wide the range of prices and models of electrified used cars is today. TipCars data shows that electric cars and hybrids are not only affordable, but on average not as young as half of other used cars on the market. The average electric car in the current range has been around for three years and has an average mileage of approximately 43,000 kilometers. For hybrids, it's those years and 33,000 kilometers. The first year and a half show that electrified cars will arrive on the secondary market relatively soon and will gradually become part of the offer. This is not a marginal segment, but a category that will be strengthened accordingly in the coming years, concluded Marek Kniea.
Advertisements for electrified cars continued to develop According to TipCars data, there are currently more new advertisements for electrified cars, not how many are disappearing from the offer. Vvoj depends on the type of drive. For electric cars, the ratio between new ads and old ads was most even in 2025, when both values were very close. In the first quarter of this year, on the other hand, the number of newly added advertisements again grew faster than the number of advertisements removed from the offer. In the case of hybrids, the difference between new additions and old advertisements was stable in the past years, while this year it has gradually started to decrease, which is an indication of the growing number of buyers for this category of car.
