The Romanian entrepreneurs Ovidiu Andries and Daniel Imbre, who founded and then sold the Smart Diesel group in one of the largest local transactions, become shareholders of Piaţa9, a hospitality business from Oradea. Andries is also a shareholder in Dinamo. The transaction received the consent of the Competition. The Galea family and Cristian Varodi remain in the shareholding. Previously, the business originally from Oradea and launched more than six years ago was controlled, according to public data, by the Galea family – Daniel Galea (36%), Anca Galea (36%), Călin-Teofil Galea (16%) – and Alexandru-Cristian Varodi (12%). The entrepreneurs started out with a restaurant in the city in the west of the country, so that now there are two physical units – Piaţa9 Cetate and Restaurant Piaţa9 -, both in Oradea, plus an order division, either for events or for corporate gifts. The company has in its portfolio cookies, cakes, biscuits, as well as various types of chocolate. These are added to other food products (such as bread, croissants, etc.) and other dishes that can be consumed in the two restaurants. The business is operated by the company Honest Food SRL, with business of 36 million lei in 2024, plus 44% compared to the previous year. In two years, the receipts doubled. This is the most recent financial information available. The net profit was only 52,000 lei, versus 1-2 million lei in each of the previous years. The company had previously announced that it would open its first store in Bucharest in the spring, on Calea Victoriei, but so far this has not happened. However, the information appears on its own website according to which the inauguration would take place soon. Andries and Imbre are two discreet entrepreneurs, known especially for Smart Diesel. In 2020, the Germans from DKV, one of the largest providers of mobility services at European level for carriers and car fleet owners, bought 70% of the shares of the locally founded company. Later in 2024 they took over the remaining 30%. At the time when DKV became a shareholder of Smart Diesel, it was a 1.5 billion lei business, a fact that at that time placed it in ninth place in the top of the largest Romanian entrepreneurial businesses.
